What’s Happening Now?

With Phase 1 of the Esquimalt Road AAA Bike Lanes and Underground Utilities project nearing completion, it’s time to look ahead to Phase 2.

This next phase builds on previous public engagement and momentum by improving comfort, accessibility, and reliability for people traveling along Esquimalt Road, while also upgrading aging underground infrastructure.

Phase 2 will improve access to key community destinations such as the Archie Browning Sports Center and the Esquimalt Recreation Center, enhance conditions at key intersections and crossings, and support access to CFB Esquimalt and nearby development areas.

The project is intended to make traveling along Esquimalt Road more comfortable and intuitive for people of all ages and abilities - whether walking, rolling, biking, or driving.

  1. Read our project description and project boards to learn more about the costs, infrastructure upgrades, road paving and other aspects of this project
  2. Tell us what you'd like to see for the Phase 2 sections of Esquimalt Road, including west of Admirals, in our short survey available on this page or pick up a hard copy at Esquimalt Municipal Hall (1229 Esquimalt Road) Monday to Friday, 8:30-16:30.
  3. Attend our open house on March 31 from 3-7PM at the Esquimalt Recreation Centre.

  • We’re looking for feedback from residents on bike lane and road design on Esquimalt Road Phase 2 between Fraser and Lampson and between Canteen and Admirals. This area of Esquimalt is growing and is already well-trafficked by workers and residents.

    ✅ Survey results are anonymous. Your screen name can be a pseudonym. 

    ✅ Before beginning the survey, please take a moment to review the detailed information boards outlining the proposed improvements. The survey questions will relate directly to the information presented on these boards.

    ✅ The survey on Phase 2 closes on April 5.
